Text Blur
 

Step 1: Open Flash and size the work area from Modify | Movie choosing 200 x 100 for this example. Choose any contrasting color for the background or import a background image to follow our example. Select frame 20 and hit the F5 key to lengthen the timeline.

Step 3: Add a layer and label it 'layer 3'. Lock the first two layers so you don't accidentally change them. Select frame 1, choose the text tool from the toolbar and re-type the word from the previous layer you will animate, lining both words up (one on top of the other) on the stage. Then using the arrow tool, select it and make it a symbol using 'Insert | Convert to Symbol' as a graphic from the drop down menu.

 

Step 4: On the same layer, hold down the Ctrl key and add a keyframe to frame 5 and again on frame 20. Select frame 5 and set 'Motion' in the tweening properties of the Frame Panel. Check 'Scale', 'Synchronize', 'Snap', and 'Auto' rotation.

Step 5: Select frame 20 and stretch out the text by choosing 'Modify | Transform | Scale'. Then choose 'Alpha' from the Effect Panel. Set the slider to '30' to fade out the blur. Test your movie, it should resemble the text blur to the right. Or you can download our .fla to follow along.
