Paint Shop Pro 7 Tutorial

Carved Text - Paint Shop Pro gives you great tools for making your own carved text graphics with lighting effects. Open a background or save (right click and 'save as') our example 1 shown at right.

Select the text tool from the tool bar on the left side of your screen and insert text on the background. Save to alpha channel, delete, load from alpha channel.

Use the cutout effect with settings of offset vertical and horizontal at 3, opacity at 90, blur at 40, shadow color black and no interior fill color. It should resemble example 2.

Invert selection. Then choose lights from the illumination effects. Use the soft lights (top) preset, darkness 70, direction 180 to simulate our example 3. Adjust the brightness/contrast if necessary.

That's all there is to it. Play around with the lighting effects until you get the look you want.
